After a comprehensive 12-0 win over holders Dominoes, Lightning Strikes win the winter league for the first time. Dominoes needed to win 12-0 to retain the title but nothing went right for them again and Lightning Strikes' margin in the end was 21 points. Mac Too, Duo and The Young Ones stay in the same positions as last week.

Nicola Rye-Holland was top scorer in all categories (playing against Brothers Grimm) with a 568 series (649 with handicap) and the only two 200+ games of the night; 214 (241) and 205. The Young Ones also feature in all of the team high score lists as well.

4-7-10 splitRich Lester was successful with a 4-7-10 split and John Bryer got a 6-7-10. Tony Pearce converted a 4-10 split.

The league scratch average improved by 0.1 to 146.1

Lightning Strikes are within sight of their first league win after beating The Owls by 12-0 tonight. Second place Dominoes also took all the points from Glitter Girls and remain nine points behind the leaders. However, only a 12 point win over Lightning Strikes on position night next week will enable them to retain the league title.

Mac Too slipped up against Hit & Miss and so can't move higher than their current third place. Duo moved up to within a point of Mac Too in fourth place.

Terry Highton was top scorer with a 534 scratch series (627 with handicap). Dale Cousins had the best game, 222 (234) in a 510 series.

Liz Lake had a new high series, up one to 475

With only two weeks to go, Lightning Strikes seem to have a firm hold on the league title after increasing their lead over Dominoes in second place to nine points and 17 points over Mac Too in third.

Steve Emmony hit a 550+ series for the second week; 551 (638 with handicap) and also had the best game, 211 (240). Richard Lester, in the same match as Steve was next best with 542 (614).

Lesley Reeday had a new high game for the league, 2 higher at 186 (231).

The league scratch average remained at 146.1

Lightning Strikes had another excellent win tonight, 12-0 over Scotch Missed and move a further point ahead of Dominoes who defeated Hit & Miss 11-1. There was again no movement in the top six places but a ten point gap has appeared between Dominoes and Mac Too in third place.

Nicola Rye Holland was again top scorer and became the fifth player to beat the 600 scratch series this season with an improvement of 16 over last week to a new personal best 604 (691 with handicap). Nicola's series also included a clean 215 (244) game.

Richard Lester had another good series, 561 (636) and Steve Emmony also hit a 561 (651). Steve also had the best game at scratch and handicap 219 (249).

Graham Lewis had a new high game, his first time over 200; 18 pins higher at 207 (244). Brian Grayson improved his high game for this league by five pins to 202 (245). Paul Hurst had a new high game: 7 higher at 177 (225).
4-10 split
Terry Emmony converted a 4-10 split and Keith MacFarlane dealt with a 5-10 split.

After another lapse of form in a first v third clash, Dominoes slip to second for the first time since week 8, 9th November. They now trail new leaders Lightning Strikes by six points and are only ahead of Mac Too in third by a single point.

There were again few high scores tonight; Mick King was top scorer with his third series over 560 in a row to average 193 over these series. Mick also had the only 200+ game this week; 214 (238 with handicap) to head all of the top score lists this week. Scotch Missed head all the high team scores this week after Carrie hit a 172 (235) game and her second 400+ series.

Paul Hurst improved his high series by 13 to 452 (602) as he gets used to his bionic shoulder.

Very little movement in the table this week as most contenders won their matches 8-4. The Young Ones were the exception, losing 4-8 to Brothers Grimm and they slip from fourth to fifth. The X-Men beat The Owls 10-2 and move up three places to sixth.

Not many high scores this week: Merv Farrow hit 535 (631 with handicap) including one of only two 200 games. Steve Emmony had the other 500 series, 514 (604). Steve Bryer scored 205 (238) with his first game of the season.

Phil Highton improved his high series and high game again this week. His 495 was 23 pins better than his previous high. Tony Pearce raised his high series by 50 pins to 463 (628). Liz Lake had a new high game 179 (224).

Despite another loss, Dominoes stay in first spot but now have only a one point lead over Mac Too who beat them tonight. New third place Lightning Strikes took all 12 points off Glitter Girls and are now only another point behind second.

Richard Lester became the fourth player over 600 this season with a 602 (683 with handicap) which included the best game of the night 232 (259). Mick King again improved his high series this week to hit a 589 (664) and also scored the next best game; 221 (246). Matt Barton had a 502 (613) series and a 205 (242) game.

Paul Hurst returned from injury and improved his high series by 46 to 439 (600).

5-8-10 split
Terry Emmony was left with 5-8-10 splits in three consecutive frames. Missed them all convincingly.
