The top two teams, Dominoes and Turkeys have moved away from the field after their wins tonight. Turkeys beat Brothers Grimm by 12-0 to close the gap on Dominoes to just two points but the gap to Owls in third is another eight points.

Still very volatile in the mid-table; the Owls move up three places to be third followed by X-Men but then only four points separate the next eight teams.

Another low scoring week with only three bowlers reaching 500 and nobody getting a 200 game. Merv Farrow got the best scratch series, 521 (623 with handicap) and game 196 (230). Tony King hit a new high series - 57 higher at 453 (627 - the best handciap series). Graham Lewis improved his high game to 188 (233, the best handicap game)

Mary Grayson scored a personal high series for this league - an improvement of 22 to 490 (625)

The league scratch average fell only slightly this week by 0.1 to 145.5. (Summer league was 146.4)

The Dominoes have moved away from the chasing teams with a 12-0 win over Lightning Strikes. They are now six points clear of Turkeys who keep second place by beating the Young Ones. Another six points behind, new third place X-Men move up three places after Mac Too and the Owls both failed to get any points tonight.

In spite of the normal lane dressing having been done this week, there were only three 500 series and three 200 games. Over two thirds of bowlers didn't bowl to their averages tonight. Alan Barton was top scorer again with 549 (618 with handicap) including games of 210 (233) and 201. Richard Lester was next best in all the high scoring lists.

Liz Lake improved her high scores for this league with a 170 (215) game and 456 series (591). Carrie Bryer also improved her high game and series and was one of the few to improve her average - by almost five pins.

Kim Stone was successful with the very unusual 4-7-9-10 split. Terry Emmony converted a 5-7-9 in the last frame of the third game to win the game.

The league scratch average dropped again by 0.5 to 145.6. (Summer league was 146.4)

After a mechanical problem there was not enough time for the Bowl to oil the lanes before bowling and this made conditions very difficult for some bowlers.

In three very close games, all decided in the last frame, Dominoes lost out to Brothers Grimm but retain their position at the top of the table. With the Turkeys gaining ten points from their game in hand and with another six tonight they move up to second place, two points behind the leaders. Mac Too move up to third, another two points behind, after beating Hit & Miss. (Lesley Reeday played in spite of a broken finger)

Dale Cousins was one of several players who coped with the conditions with a personal best 591 series (672 with handicap) which included games of 224 (251) and 217. John Bryer also bowled better than his average to score 534 (588) and he now heads the scratch averages. Well done to Mick Freeborn who hit his first Monday league 200 game, 209 (248).

Tim Hill improved his high series by 13 to 472 (592) and Lee Georgeson improved again, by 22, to 486 (621).

The league scratch average dropped by 1.2 to 146.1

In spite of losing 4-8 tonight to X-Men, Dominoes keep hold of top spot by five points from X-Men who move up to second. However, the Turkeys didn't play tonight and are lying 11 points behind the Dominoes. When this postponed match is played it could be much closer at the top.

John Bryer hit the best scratch series and game - 541 (595 with handicap) and 234 (252) but Keith MacFarlane, who seems to have finally worked out how to play at this bowl, had the best handicap series, 628 (532 scratch).

Lee Georgeson (Glitter Girls +1) scored the next best handicap game (231) and series (611) and Anita Highton also had a 231 handicap game.

Dale Cousins got a difficult 4-10 split.

Leaders X-Men lost their first match of the season, 0-12 to Hit & Miss, and slip down to third. New leaders are Dominoes after a 12-0 win over the Owls. They lead by seven points from new second place Turkeys who are just two ahead of X-Men. Hit and Miss jump six places to fourth after their win.

Dale & SusiSome new names on the high score lists tonight: Dale Cousins hit the best series with 562 (655 with handicap) including a 216 game (247). Gary Wileman (Men Still Bowling Badly) had the next best handicap series, 638.

Well done to Susi Cousins, inspired by the Pin Fellers new shirts and in spite of a (very) low back injury, hit a lifetime best series of 437 (629) including her best ever game of 155 (219).

Tim Hill also had a personal best game, an improvement of 29 on his previous best to 228 (264) after a six bagger.

The league scratch average improved by 0.4 to 148.1
