Bros. rise to the top

After a second 12-0 win in a row, Brothers Grimm consolidate their top place and open a two point gap from Duo who won 10-2 win tonight. Dominoes improve their position by three places to third, ten points behind the leaders, after beating LAPD by 10-2.

Terry Highton was top scorer after beating his previous saeson high by 13 pins to 550 (631 with handicap) including two games over 200. Nicola Rye-Holland hit the best game of the night; 215 (235). Diane MacFarlane had a new season best series, 38 pins higher, to score her first 500 series of the season (521, 647 - the best handicap series of the night).

Tony Pearce had new season best scores for both game and series: 22 higher at 171 (229) and 51 higher at 452 (626). Steve Emmony scored a new high series, 5 higher at 497 (614)

Sarah Standley was successful with a 5-10 split.

The league scratch average improved by a further 0.5 this week to 148.9

Bros. rise to the top

Brothers Grimm take over at the top of the table by pinfall from Duo after a fourth good win, this time over Lightning Strikes in a much closer game than 12-0 suggests. Glitter Girls continue their march up the table, two places to third with a 12-0 win against a still depleted Owls. They are now only two points behind the leaders.

Well done again to Nicola Rye-Holland who had another storming night and topped all the high score lists. She improved her season high game by 29 to 239 (263 with handicap) and was only two pins short of a 600 series (670); an improvement of 54 pins. Nicola has now bowled five 500 series in a row. Alan Barton and Martin Cook were next best with 572 (635) and 566 (665).

Dominoes had the best team game and series tonight: 413 and 1,069 but the high scores with handicap were bowled by Brothers Grimm, 451 and Turkeys 1,234.

Janet Neale had new season bests for high game - 168 (216) and series 459 (603)
Janet Neale was successful with a 5-10 split.

Duo build a lead

Leaders Duo played second place LAPD Mk2 and after an 8-4 win increase their lead to six points. Last weeks third, Hit and Miss lost out to the Glitter Girls and slip to fourth, two pints behind new third place Brothers Grimm who scraped past a one-man Owls by 8-4.

The match between Self Inflicted and Dominoes provided most of the high scores this week: Alan Barton missed out on a 600 series by six pins after a split in the last frame, scoring 594 (669 with handicap) including two 200 games (209/234 and 202). John Bryer hit the best game of the night - 228 (258) (his first 200 game this season) and had the second best series 529 (619).

Sarah Standley had her best game of the season; an improvement of 16 to 195 (248) and also her best series so far. Mike Davies improved his high game by 2 to 150 (213)

The league scratch average fell this week to 147.6

Duo stay ahead

Last weeks leaders Duo did just enough in beating Hit & Miss by 8-4 to hold off LAPD Mk2 who had a 12-0 win over a depleted Owls. They lead by 2 points from LAPD who are four points ahead of Hit and Miss in third and eight points ahead of new fourth place Brothers Grimm.

Some better scores this week: six 500 series and three 200 games. Rose Barton returned to the top of the lists with a 580 series (625 with handicap) including the best game of the night, 216 (231). Terry Emmony and Martin Cook fill most of the other high score tables this week with 568 (685) and 512 (611) respectively.

Nicola Rye Holland improved her high game by 2 to 210 and Lesley Reeday (194, 232) and Kim Stone (185, 230) also improved their season highest scores.

The league scratch average improved by 0.9 pins to 147.7

Duo take over

Duo and Glitter girls played their game-in-hand tonight with Duo winning 8-4 which means a total of 18 points after also winning their week 6 match against Lightning Strikes by 10-2. Duo jump five places to the top of the table with a two point lead over last weeks leaders Hit & Miss. LAPD Mk 2 are a further four points behind in third with The Owls also slipping a place to fourth.

Scores weren't as high as recently: only four 500 series and one 200 game. Martin Cook was top scorer with 534 (642 with handicap) - his first 500 series of this league, while Richard Lester had two of the others including one in his back match. Nicola Rye-Holland had another good week with a 510 series (582) and the only 200 game of the night, 202 (226). Nicola moves up to second in the scratch averages behind Rose Barton.

Carrie Bryer, Keith MacFarlane and Paul Simmons all had new high games this week.

Kim Stone was successful with a 5-7 split.

The league scratch average fell slightly by 0.4 pins to 146.8

All Change, again

Some big changes again at the top of the table with last weeks top two teams both losing heavily. Leaders Lightning Strikes fall to fourth place after losing to new second place LAPD and second place Dominoes fall to fifth after losing to Brothers Grimm. Hit and Miss are the new leaders, two points clear of LAPD after a 12-0 win over Turkeys and taking four points from Dominoes in a back match. The Owls rise three places to third after beating Self Inflicted.

Nicola Rye-Holland's good run of form continues with another personal best series of 544 (634 with handicap). Nicola now stands at third in the scratch averages with 167.6. Rose Barton had a quieter week than last time but still hit a 511 (541) including the best game of the night, 211 (221). Steve Emmony and Brothers Grimm feature in several of the high score lists for the week after hitting the head pin quite a few times tonight.

Paul Simmons had his first 500 series of the season with 501 (609) and Berenice Davies improved her best series by 30 to 486 (621)

Dominoes Dominate

After a big 12-0 win over the Owls, Dominoes move up four places to second, six points behind leaders Lightning Strikes but with a game in hand. LAPD Mk 2 also won 12-0, easily beating Brothers Grimm to move up five places to third with the same points as the Dominoes. Turkeys remain in fourth, a further 2 points adrift.

Another magical week for Rose and Alan Barton: Rose hit the first 600 game of the season, 662 (731 with handicap) with all three games over 200. (246 (269), 215, 201). Alan had the next best series, 557 (647) which meant that the team scores are the best so far in the league by some distance. The team series handicap score 1,378 is more than 50 pins higher than the winning score for the last winter league.

Several bowlers had new high series for this league: Terry Highton had his first 500 series - an improvement of 52 to 537 (633), Keith MacFarlane improved by 82 to reach 525 (654) and Harry Hargreaves hit a 522 (621) series, 25 better than his previous best. Anita Highton increased her high series score by 100 to 471 (651)

Mary Grayson succesfully dealt with a 3-7 split and Rose Barton converted a 5-10.

Ladies Night

In a tense domestic struggle, the men of Lightning Strikes heavily defeated their wives, the Pinpals, 12-0 to leap four places to the top of the table. It is to be hoped that they don't face revenge during the week. Lightning Strikes are two points clear of The Owls who had a good win over the Turkeys to jump from fourth. Last weeks leaders Mac Too came up against the in-form Dominoes and slip to third.

High scoring this week was dominated by the ladies: only John Bryer intruded in the top three lists of high scores by hitting 542 scratch (623 with handicap). Well done to Nicola Rye-Holland who had a personal best 536 (665) including a 208 game (251). Close behind was Rose Barton who hit an excellent 238 game (266) on her way to a 530 series (614). Mary Grayson also features in the lists with a 207 game (251) and a 499 series (631). Finally, Lesley Reeday equalled her best series with 513 (654)

Richard Lester converted a 5-7 split.

Mac Too go to the top

With a 10-2 win over LAPD Mk 2 Mac Too go to the top of the table, one point clear of Turkeys who met more opposition this week and could only draw with Lightning Strikes. Brothers Grimm scraped past Pin Pals to improve from tenth to third, two points adrift of the Turkeys.

A low scoring week: no 500 series and only one 200 game. Richard Lester was top scorer with 492 (573 with handicap) including a 204 game (231) Terry Emmony was just behind with 490 (631).

The league scratch average plummetted by 3.0 to 142.1

Turkeys take an early lead

Turkeys hit some good form straight away on week 1 and easily beat Brothers Grimm to head the league table by 2 points from The Owls and three from Mac Too in third place.

John Bryer was top scorer with 515 (578 with handicap) but Martin Cook and Harry Hargreaves were close with 497 and 496.

Harry also had the best scratch game - 202 (228) and Rose Barton hit the only other 200 game with just 200 (228)
