Fatal Beauty close the gap

    Fatal Beauty had a very good win over third place Pure Magic tonight by 10-2 and close the gap on the leaders by 2 points. X Factor were pushed hard by Shatner's Bassoon and could only win 8-4. Brothers Grimm won 11-1 and move ahead of Pure Magic into third place.
      
    Three players had scratch series over 550 tonight; Terry Damm with 571 (616 with handicap), Brian Grayson 564 (654 - the best of the night) which included two games over 200 and Malcolm Congreve with 556 (592).

Robbie Holt and Jaimie Marlow of Shatner's Bassoon both had their best series of the season and Matt Allcock improved his best series by 18 pins in the course of beating Pure Magic.

Des Sands had the best scratch game of the night, 235 (264). Matt Allcock just missed a 200 game with a 199 which was his best game in this league.



The league average remained at 150.5.

No change at the top

    X Factor increased their lead over second place Fatal Beauty to 11 points after beating Wilkos by 10-2. Fatal Beauty lost 8-4 to Brothers Grimm and Pure Magic could only draw against Xes. Only 8 points cover second place to fifth.
      
    There were few high scores tonight, five players broke the 500 mark with Rich Lester the best with 521 (590 with handicap). Harry Hargreaves had a season best 519 (609 - the best handicap series of the night).

Crunch Finch had the best game of the night, 221 (258) which was an improvement of 43 on his previous best. Brian Grayson had his first 200 game of the season with 201 (231). Jenny Hipwell with 180 and Paul Wilkinson, 192, both improved their high games for the season.

Diane MacFarlane converted a 5-10 and also a 5-6-7-9 split. Julie Wilkins got an equally difficult 5-7.

The league average fell slightly by 0.1 this week to 150.5.

X Factor extend lead after walkover

    X Factor opened up a 5 point lead this week with a walkover 12-0 win over Skittle Scuttlers who failed to show. Fatal Beauty and Pure Magic stay in second and third and Brothers Grimm move up to fourth after their second 12-0 win in a row.
      
    Malc Congreve and Keith MacFarlane were joint top scorers tonight with 549. Neil Taylor was next highest with 518 (608 with handicap). Terry Emmony improved his season best series by 10 to 514 (613 - to lead the handicap series table for the week). Paul Wilkinson had a new seasons best game, 189 (229)

Once again very few games over 200, only Harry Hargreaves and Neil Taylor managed to (just) reach 200.


The league average fell slightly by 0.2 this week to 150.6.

Top teams all win

    The four teams at the top of the table last week all had good wins and their league positions are unchanged. Brothers Grimm move ahead of LAPD to fifth place after winning 12-0.
      
    Malc Congreve lead the high scorers list again tonight with a 563 series (581 with handicap).with playing partner David Sibley was next best with 563 (599). Paul Simmons improved his best series of the league by 48 in scoring 522 (624), his first time over 500 this year. Tony Pearce also scored 522 (633), 20 higher than his previous highest, and heads the high series with handicap table.

Once again very few games over 200, David Sibley was best with 216 (232). Julie Wilkins hit a 204 (236) and Tony Pearce scored 200 (237)

Jenny Hipwell Jenny Hipwell converted a 6-7-10 split and Martin Cook got a 5-7.

The league average stayed the same this weekat 150.8.

X Factor are clear leaders

    The top of the table clash on position night saw X Factor beat Pure Magic 10-2 with a strong third game that clinched the match and the points. They are now 2 points clear of new second place Fatal Beauty who recovered their winning ways with a big win against LAPD and get into the season high series lists with this performance. Pure Magic slip to third place, 8 points behind the leaders.
      
    There were seven 500 series tonight, the highest by Rich Lester with 542 (611 with handicap).Terry Damm was next with 539 (581) and Neil Taylor 526 (619). The star this week though was John Bodicoat with a personal best score and first time over 500, 520 (655 with handicap), to lead the handicap high scores table.

Robbie Holt had new high scores for the season improving his best game by 28 to 194 and best series by 23 to 481.

Tony Pearce converted a 3-7-10 split and Ian Smith got a 5-10.

The league average improved again this week by 0.1 to 150.8.

X Factor take joint lead

    X Factor and Fatal Beauty move up two places each to second and third at the expense of LAPD and Mac Too who slip back down the table.
      
    X Factor beat Mac Too 12-0 in a high scoring match. Mac Too had a team total with handicap of 1,171 which would have beaten every other team this week. Terry Damm lead the way for X Factor with a 615 series (660 with handicap) and Des Sands scored 536 (629). For the second week in a row X Factor head the team high scoring lists in all categories.

Keith MacFarlane was second highest scorer with 549 (615) which included the best game of the night, 223 (245). Neil Taylor had the best handicap game though with 252, which was also his best game of the season.

Matt Allcock had his best game of the league, an improvement of 16 to 180 (223)

Keith MacFarlane converted a 4-10 split.

The league average improved by 0.2 to 150.7.

Mac Too close the gap

    No change in the top three places this week even though first place Pure Magic and second Mac Too both lost. Third place LAPD won 8-4 and close the gap with Mac Too to only one point. With X Factor and Fatal Beauty both winning well, only 10 points cover first to fifth place.
      
  There were seven series over 500 this week: with X Factor's Des Sands (559, 664 with handicap) and Terry Damm (553, 601) top scorers. Julie Wilkins hit her first 200 game of the season, a clean 203 (236) and was one of only three bowlers to get 200 games this week.

Elaine Standley converted a 4-7-10 split and Des Sands got a 3-6-7-10

Mac Too close the gap

    Last weeks leaders Pure Magic played their nearest rival LAPD and beat them 8-4 in a very close game. In game 1, Malcolm hit a 244 game (255 with handicap) but Pure Magic were beaten by 26 pins when Sarah had a clean game and new personal best 216 (251) and Elaine also hit a clean 186 (211). The overall points were won by Pure Magic by just 5 pins.

    Mac Too took all the points against a depleted Turkeys and move up to second place at the expense of LAPD and Wilkos move up 3 places to fourth after beating Shatners Bassoon 10-2.
  
  Yet again Malc Congreve was top scorer; a 588 series (621 with handicap) was 9 better than last week and 46 better than the next highest, another personal best by Sarah Standley, 542 (647). Other high games were scored by Dave Sibley, 223 (579) and Ian Smith 222 (249)

Liz Lake improved her high game by 25 to 191(231) and high series by 29 to 477 (597).

Mary Grayson was successful with a 5-10 split.

The league average improved by 0.3 to 150.6.

Pure Magic consolidate top spot

    Pure Magic increased their lead over their nearest challenger to 6 points in beating X Factor 8-4. LAPD move up to second after beating Bros Grimm 8-4 in a close match. Fatal Beauty drop down to fourth after a below average performance gave them only 2 points out of a possible 24.
  
  Malc Congreve was once again top scorer this week; a 579 series (612 with handicap) was by far the best series and his high game, 233 (244) was one of only two games over 200. Terry Damm was next highest for both game and series. Ian Smith hit a new high game and high series for the league and scored over 500 for the first time this season. Harry Hargreaves also scored 500 for the first time.

Jenny Hipwell improved her best game by 7 to 170 (220) and high series by 28 to 452 (602). Crunch Finch also had a new high series score of 490 (601)

Elaine Standley did really well to get a 7-9 split to win the second game and Sarah got a 5-6 split. Elaine also had a clean third game in scoring 192 in the last game.
