X Factor just hold on

   In a really tight finish to the league, X Factor just held on to top spot by one point after losing 8-4 to second place Pure Magic. The first game was decided by one pin in X Factor's favour and that was enough to hold off Pure Magic.

   Third and fourth places, Brothers Grimm and Duo, were unchanged in spite of Duo winning by 8-4.
      
   Malcolm Congreve again had the best scratch game and series and Pure Magic had the team highs as well. Richard Lester was close behind with 586 (646 with handicap).


Julie Wilkins converted a 4-7-10 split.

The scratch league average finished at 150.7.

X Factor from Pure Magic

   No change in the top three places and leaders X Factor are still 5 points clear. They can now only be caught by Pure Magic however as third place Brothers Grimm only scored 2 points tonight.
      
   Pure Magic, Graham French and Malcolm Congreve lead all the high scoring lists this week; Malcolm had another 600 scratch series, 614 (650 with handicap) including the best scratch game 236 (248). Graham was second best with 580 (616) including games of 219 and 200.



Brian Grayson and Terry Damm were successful with 5-10 splits.

The scratch league fell slightly to 150.7.

X Factor from Pure Magic

   X Factor retain the lead by 5 points from Pure Magic, both teams getting maximum points tonight. Last week's second, Brothers Grimm could only get 2 points and slip to third place.
      
   Graham French was top scratch scorer tonight for both game and series and also had the best handicap series but for the second week in a row Sarah Standley had the best handicap game.

Paul Wilkinson imporved his best scratch series by 7 to 480 (600 with handicap).

Mary Grayson converted a 5-7-9 split.

The scratch league average improved slightly to 150.8.

X Factor regain lead

    In the top of the table clash, last week's leaders Brothers Grimm were beaten 8-4 by second place X-Factor who go back to the top of the table, equal on points but a few pins ahead. Pure Magic were held to a draw by LAPD but retain third place and keep in touch with the top two. Fatal Beauty move back to fourth but are 14 points adrift of Pure Magic.
      
   Terry Damm was top scorer tonight with 565 (610 with handicap) which included the second bast game, 210 (225). Brian Grayson had another good score, 557 (644). Sarah Standley had the best game of the night at scratch, 222 and handicap, 260.

Anne Congreve had ber best series in this league tonight, finishing with 498 (654 - the best of the night)


The scratch league average remained at 150.7.

The Brothers are the new Leaders

    The top of the table clash between Pure Magic and X Factor resulted in an 8-4 win for X Factor but last week's third place Brothers Grimm won 12-0 against LAPD and move past both teams to take the lead by four clear points.
      
   Better scoring this week: eight bowlers over 500 including two over 550 (Malc Congreve 561 (597with handicap) and Terry Emmony 557 (653 - the best of the night). Matt Titchard had the best scratch game, 220 (246). Paul Wilkinson had his first 200 game in the league, 16 higher than his previous best at 208 (248 - best handicap game of the week).

Some new high scores for the league; Mary Grayson added 19 to her best game to reach 204 (242) and 13 to her best series to 513 (627). Kevin Sharpe inproved his best series to 536 (638)


Diane MacFarlane coverted a 4-7-10 split and Brian Grayson got a 5-10.

The league average rose by 0.1 to 150.7.

Tight at the top

    Pure Magic's lead was cut to one point as they were well beaten by third place Brothers Grimm. The 12 points won tonight move the Brothers up to level on points with second place X Factor who won 8-4 tonight against LAPD. Duo consolidate their fourth place after another good win.
      
   Another fairly low score night, six bowlers over 500 but the best scratch score only 543 (Malc Congreve and Rich Lester). Only Harry Hargreaves could break 200; 201 (231 with handicap). For the second time in three weeks Brothers Grimm head all of the high team scores for the week.

Steve Emmony had his best game of the season, 5 higher at 192 (223)

Tony Pearce got lucky with a 4-10 split and Ian Smith converted a 5-7 split (in frame 1 of game 1), and Mary Grayson also got a 5-7.

The league average fell by 0.1 to 150.6.

Pure Magic retake the lead

    Pure Magic move back to the top with a 10-2 win over Mac Too. X Factor had another set back, losing 12-0 to Duo, their third loss in a row, and fall to second place, 9 points adrift. Duo move up two places to fourth after their win. Brothers Grimm hold on to third in spite of losing 8-4 to an inspired 1022.
      
   Big scores were quite scarce tonight; Terry Damm had the best scratch series, 551 with Dave Sibley not far behind on 545. Only Dave managed a 200 game, 225 (243 with handicap).

Jackie Finch (1022) increased her best series score in this league by 57 to record 486, 624 with handicap - the best of the night. Robbie Holt had a best series for this league, up 7 to 491 (608)

Both Neil Taylor and John Bodicoat (Fatal Beauty) converted 5-10 splits

The league improved slightly to 150.7.

Leaders lose again

    With the exception of Brothers Grimm, the leading five teams from last week all lost. X Factor dropped another 10 points against Turkeys and second place Pure Magic only got four points against 1022. Nobody in the top half of the table changes position this week but the gap between first and third is now only 8 points.
      
   For once the Brothers Grimm head all of the high score lists - Ian Smith scored 628 (212, 243, 173), 712 with handicap to top the individual lists and the team improved their high game by 51 to 419 (480 - the best in the league so far) and series by 126 to 1,114 (1,297, third best in the league).

Jaimie Marlow (Shatners) hit a new high game, 166 (220) and Martin Cook had a new high series, 22 higher at 544, (631)

Tony Pearce was successful with a 4-7-10 split and Elaine Standley got a 2-4-10 in the same game.

The league improved slightly to 150.6.

X Factor falter

    X Factor could only get 3 points off an in-form Owls but have enough of a lead to hold off Pure Magic who had their third 12-0 win in a row against Hit & Miss. X Factor now lead by only 3 points but are 14 points clear of third place Brothers Grimm who had a rare maximum point win over Wilkos tonight.
      
   There were nine 500 series, Terry Damm having the best total with 582 (627 with handcap) including one of only two 200 games.

Sarah Standley hit six in a row at the start of her first game and finished with a personal best 225 (264) and a 510 (627) series. Mary Grayson recorded her first 500 series tonight by increasing her previous best by 6. Jackie Finch (1022) improved her best game and series scores in the current league by 6 and 28

Neil Brewin converted a 6-8 split.

The league average fell by 0.2 to 150.5.

Pure Magic back in the frame

    The challenge of Fatal Beauty seems to have faded for the time being after they were well beaten by an in form Pure Magic who move up to second place behind X Factor. The leaders also won maximum points and are now 12 points clear at the top.
      
   Malcolm Congreve and David Sibley both had big series tonight; Malcolm had a 627scratch series (663 with handicap) including 220 and 237 games. Brian Grayson was top scorer with handicap though - he had a 580 scratch series (667) and also the best handicap game of the night, 253. Both of these scores were his best for this league.

Elaine Standley had her best series of the league, 555 (633) in spite of not being at her best after being illness. Matt Allcock improved his best series score by 18 and just missed a 500 series with 495 (612)


Mary Grayson was successful with a 5-10 split.

The league average improved by 0.1 to 150.7.
