Turkeys take over

   Turkeys keep top spot this week by beating The Owls 10-2 and are now 8 points above X Factor who won 8-4 against 1022. The top 9 places in the table are unchanged this week.

    Malcolm Congreve lead the way with high scoring tonight with a 638 series (686 with handicap) including two games over 200; 231 and 216. Seven others broke the 500 level, Richard Lester being next best with 531 (588)
   
     Diane MacFarlane is finding bowling easy lately and again improved her best series for the season by another 7 to 496 (610). Des Sands improved his high score for the season by 22 to 527 and actually beat Terry Damm this week.

   Tony Pearce made a 6-7-8-10 split.
The league average improved again by 0.2 to 146.1.

Week 24 of the league, 10 March

Turkeys take over

   Turkeys and X Factor change places again at the top of the league table and Turkeys now lead by 6 points having beaten Patrick Rover 12-0 while X Factor could only manage a draw against Duo. Third and fourth places stay the same but Skittle Scuttlers move up to fifth, ahead of Duo.

    Eight players had 500 series tonight, the best being by Paul Standley, 556 (595 with handicap) with Terry Damm close behind on 540 (585) and then Brian Grayson with a season best 521 (623 -the best handicap series tonight). Brian also hit a 200 game for the first time this season.
   
     Diane MacFarlane goes from strength to strength and improved her best series for the season for the third week in a row, by another 10 to 489 (606). She also improved her best game by 17 to 196 (235) and threw in some fancy split conversions as well - 1-3-7 and a 5-10.

   David Sibley was successful with a 2-4-10 split and Brian Grayson got a 5-9-7.
The league average improved by 0.2 to 145.9.

X Factor back to the top

   X Factor stop the rot and go back to the top of the league on pinfall after a 12-0 win over LAPD while last week's leaders Turkeys lost 4-8 to Duo.

    Individual scores were not so good this week, half of the bowlers bowled below their average. Only 4 broke the 500 mark and these 4 were also the only ones to get above 200 in a game. Malc Congreve was again the best player with a 595 series (649 with handicap) and had the best high game, 233 (251). Terry Damm 578 (626), Richard Lester 527 (587) and Ian Smith 504 (603) were the other high scorers.
   
     Diane MacFarlane improved her best series for the season for the second week in a row, this time by 19 to 479 (599).

   Lesley Reeday converted a 5-10 split.
The league average fell back slightly to by 0.1 to 145.7.

X Factor lose again

   With a third successive loss X Factor drop to second place behind Turkeys who now have an 8 point lead. In a close match X Factor lost out to The Fist while the Turkeys overcame LAPD 12-0. Third place Mac Too easily beat Hit & Miss to close the gap with second.

    Once again, a quarter of bowlers tonight scored over 500. Top of the list was Martin Cook with 569 (653 with handicap - also the best tonight) which included the best game, a clean 213 (241). Richard Lester was back to form with a seasons best 560 (623) and Terry Damm hit a 550 (598)
   
     Matt Titchard improved his seasons high series to 526 and Diane MacFarlane also improved her best series score to 460 (583)

   Andy Wilkins got a 4-10 split and Elaine Standley got two 10 pin spares!
The league average improved by 0.1 to 145.8.

Turkeys share the lead

   After another bad week X Factor now have only a share of top place. They lost 10-2 to Patrick Rover while last weeks second Turkeys won 8-4 against The Fist and now only lead by higher pinfall. Mac Too are a distant 15 points behind these two.

    Only a few good scores tonight, Harry Hargreaves leading the way with a seasons best series of 530 (620 with handicap) and also the only game over 200, 208.
   
     After another win tonight - their 6th in a row and including several personal bests, Neil Taylor would like it to be known that Patrick Rover is on a roll. Neil will be happy to provide full details on request.

   Martin Cook got a 2-7-10 split, Keith MacFarlane and Matt Titchard got 5-10s and Terry Emmony got a 5-7.
The league average fell by by 0.1 to 145.7.

Bad week for leaders

   In a bad week for leading teams, only Mac Too of last weeks top six won their match by beating leaders X Factor by 8-4. There were no changes of position except for Duo who drop 2 places after being comprehensively thrashed 12-0 by Brothers Grimm. (I know Duo never read this!). Demonstrating how competitive this league has become, only one of the bottom six teams lost tonight.

    Once again, some good performaces tonight, six series over 500, lead by Sean MacFarlane with 544 (601 with handicap) and followed by 4 bowlers in the 520's. Neil Taylor had another personal best (his second in 4 weeks) with 528 (618). New high series for the season were recorded by Harry Hargreaves, Brian Hipwell (627 with handicap) and Paul Simmons. Brian and Paul also got their first 200+ games this season.
   
   Tony Pearce was successful with a 2-10 split and Martin Cook got a 5-10
The league average improved by 0.2 to 145.8.

X Factor & Turkeys open up a gap

   X Factor continue at the top of the table but their lead was cut to 8 points tonight by Turkeys who are now clear of third place by 13 points. Mac Too stay in third despite losing 12-0 but they are only 3 points clear of Wilkos in fourth.

    Malcolm Congreve was top scorer tonight with 575 (611 with handicap) but didn't have a game over 200. Other good series scores were by Richard Lester 551 (614), Steve Emmony 546 (639 - the best of the night). Both Elaine and Paul Standley scored well with 540 and 533 respectively. Best game was by Richard Lester, 212 (233).
   
   Malc Congreve was successful with a 2-4-10 split. Brian Grayson and Tony Pearce got 5-10s and Martin Cook a 5-7.
The league average improved by 0.4 to 145.6.

X Factor stay clear

   X Factor maintain their lead at the top despite only winning 7-5 against Wilkos. With a 10-2 win against Young Guns, Turkeys move ahead of last weeks second place Mac Too who fall to third after picking up only 2 points against the Owls.

    Scott Ellington lead the high scoring list tonight with 602 (677 with handicap), the fourth 600 in the league so far. David Sibley was the best of the other three bowlers over 500 with 549 (606). Again there were few games over 200, only four this week the best being by Scott Ellington, 217 (242).
   
   No memorable split conversions were reported tonight
The league average remained at slightly to 145.2.

Week 17 of the league, 20 January

Mac Too catch up

   Second place Mac Too had an emphatic 12-0 win against third place 1022 while X Factor slipped up 10-2 against Shatner's Bassoon. The gap between first and second closes to only 6 points. Turkeys climb 2 places to third with a clean sweep over last weeks fourth, Wilkos.

    No less than eight bowlers scored over 500 tonight, lead by David Sibley (560, 620 with handicap) and Keith MacFarlane (549, 630 - the best handicap series of the night). Both Standleys, Elaine & Paul, scored well and LAPD are third in the team scratch series list. Neil Taylor improved his best series score by 4 to 511 (604). After Neil Brewin's personal best game last week, his teammate Paul Wilkinson also had a a new PB tonight with 208 (252), the best scratch and handicap game tonight.
   
   Crunch Finch was successful with a 4-7-9 split.
The league average improved slightly to 145.2.
