Final Week of the League

  Congratulations to The Turkeys won have finally won a Monday night league and by a wide margin of 22 points from X Factor who were themselves 24 points clear of Mac Too in third place.  In fact, there were no position changes tonight in the top half of the table so Wilkos stayed in fourth place from Duo in fifth.

    Very few good scores tonight, only Terry Damm (552) and Malc Congreve broke the 500 mark and there were no games over 200

The final league average was 146.3

  Sarah Standley coverted a 2-5-7 split.

X Factor make sure of second place

   There were no changes in the top 5 places tonight. Turkeys won 12-0 against Brothers Grimm and X Factor secured second place in the league with a 12-0 win over Hit & Miss. The gap between Mac Too in third and Wilkos in fourth widened bya point and Wilkos must now beat Mac Too by at least 9-3 to overtake them on position night.

    Several good scores tonight: seven 500 series lead by another 600 for Malcolm Congreve (602, 653 with handicap) followed by Terry Damm, 585/633 and Richard Lester 560/617. Malcolm also had the best game of the night, 264 (281)

Jenny Hipwell improved her high game by 21 to 179 and high series by 7 to 438

The league average rose to 146.5

  Malcolm Congreve was successful with a 7-9-10 and Sarah Standley got a 1-2-10 split.

Week 30 - 28 April

Turkeys are untouchable.

   With an 8-4 win over their nearest rivals, X Factor, Turkeys have made sure of the league title. X Factor are still 12 points clear of Mac Too and with only 2 weeks to go appear to have settled second place.

    Another poor week for high scores, only 4 series over 500 and three of those were in the Duo v Wilkos game. Kevin Sharpe top scored with 518 (596 with handicap) including a 215 game - the best of the night, followed by both of the Duo team, Richard Lester , 514 (571) and Tony Pearce 503 (608 - the best handicap series tonight) Julie Wilkins scored 503 (602).

Paul Simmons had his season best series by 16 with 449.

In spite of the low number of high scores, the league average remained at 146.3

  Des Sands was succesful with a 2-10 split and Harry Hargreaves got a 5-10.

Turkeys stay in front

   Turkeys were again restricted to a 10-2 win, this time by Xes and their lead was cut by 2 points by X Factor who easily beat Skittle Scuttlers 12-0. The gap between Wilkos in fourth place and Mac Too in third widened to 4 points but both of these are losing touch with the 2 leaders.

    Once again there were only 4 series over 500; with Terry Damm top scored with 583 (631 with handicap) including 2 games of 211. His partner Des Sands was next highest with 524 (623) which included the best game of the night, 216. These two head all of the high score tables this week.

Sarah Standley had her best series of the league with 469, 47 higher than the previous best and her best game so far, 176.

In spite of the low number of high scores, the league average remained at 146.3

   No memorable split conversions were reported.

Turkeys move closer to league title

   Turkeys were restricted to a 10-2 win by 1022 tonight but they added another 4 points to their lead because X Factor were agaiin held to a draw, this time by The Owls. Wilkos in fourth place moved to within striking distance of Mac Too by beating them 12-0. Brothers Grimm also closed the gap by beating Skittle Scuttlers 10-2.

    There weren't many high scores tonight, only 4 series over 500 with Martin Cook the best with 534 (612 with handicap). Harry Hargreaves had the best game, 203. Even so, the league average rose slightly to 146.3 so bowlers are gradually becoming more consistent.
   David Sibley was successful with a 6-7-10 split
The league average remained at146.3.

Turkeys further in front

   After another 12-0 win, against Hit & Miss this week, Turkeys extend their lead by another 6 points to 20 over X Factor in second place. X Factor drew again this week against Brother Grimm. Mac Too have closed to within 3 points of second place after beating Young Guns 10-2.

    Terry Damm was top scorer tonight with 536 (584 with handicap) and only three others got over the 500 mark. Ian Smith had the best handicap series with 588.

Des Sands had a remarkable series - he scored his lowest game since he was a lad, 92, followed by a personal best 248 and his best game of the season by 50 pins.
   

   Paul Simmons converted a 5-10 split.
The league average remained at146.3.

Week 26 of the league, 24 March

Turkeys extend their lead

   Turkeys now lead by 14 points from X Factor after beating Skittle Scuttlers 12-0. X Factor could only draw with Xes and are now only 7 points clear of third place Mac Too.

    Brian Grayson was top scorer this week with a seasons best 545 (644 with handicap) including a game of 200. Paul Standley was close behind with 544 (583) and 5 others exceeded 500. Harry Hargreaves had the best game of the night, 222 (251)
   
     Diane MacFarlane is starting to slip - this week she only managed to equal her personal best for the season with a 496 series. Liz Lake produced her best game and series of the season with 169 and 484 (610) - 37 better than the previous best and Jenny Hipwell also improved her best scores to 158 and 431.

   Julie Wilkins got a 5-10 split in the course of a clean game and Harry Hargreaves also had a clean game.
The league average improved again by 0.2 to 146.3.
