B.B.C. Win the League

   BBC (Pat & Karen Byrne) confirmed their league victory depite losing 10-2 to Duo (Tony Pearce & Rich Lester). Brother Grimm (Steve Emmony & Ian Smith) also won 10-2 by beating Snoopys Gang (Gordon Sprigg & John Barden) but remain in third place on an inferior pinfall.

   Hit & Miss (Liz Lake & Lesley Reeday) jump from seventh to fifth with a good 12-0 victory over Turkeys (Martin Cook and Harry Hargreaves)

   There were very few heriocs tonight, only Terry Damm (587) and David Sibley (525) broke the 500 mark and only Terry had a game over 200 (212)

B.B.C. Win the League

   BBC (Pat & Karen Byrne) ensured their league victory with a week to spare by beating Snoopys Gang (Gordon Sprigg & John Barden) 8-4. Second place Duo (Tony Pearce & Rich Lester) lost heavily by 10-2 against LAPD (Elaine Standley and David Sibley) and this leaves BBC with a 27 point lead.

Brother Grimm (Steve Emmony & Ian Smith) held on to third place despite losing 10-2 to 1022 (Crunch Finch and Kevin Sharpe) but Snoopys Gang are only 2 points behind in fourth.

   Five players broke the 500 level this week, the highest was by Terry Damm (TD) with 560 including the nights best game, 222. Pat and Kaz Byrne were both well over with 544 and 546 respectively. Elaine Standley (LAPD) and Martin Cook (Turkeys) both scored 525.

Top Teams Falter

   First and second, BBC (Pat & Karen Byrne) and Duo (Tony Pearce & Rich Lester) both lost heavily tonight and gave the chasing teams chance to catch up. BBC lost 10-2 to The Owls (Brian & Mary Grayson) and Duo were beaten 12-0 by Snoopy's Gang (Gordon Sprigg & John Barden) who are now in fourth place. Brother Grimm (Terry Emmony & Ian Smith) in third place scored 10 points in their win over Wilkos.
   Six players broke the 500 level this week, the highest was by new recruit to LAPD, Malc Congreve, with 565. Gordon Sprigg (Snoopy's Gang) was close behind (having finally got the measure of the lanes) with 559. Kaz Byrne continued her run of good form with 548, Brian Grayson (Owls) improved his high scratch score by 23 to 531 and Lesley Reeday (Hit & Miss) did even better, improving her high score by 43 to 529. Harry Hargreaves (Turkeys) got his third 500 in a row with 513.
   There were only 3 games over 200 but the best was a superb game and a lifetime best 250 by Brian Grayson with 7 strikes in a row from frame 6 to the end. Gordon Sprigg got a 215 and Karen Byrne 211.
   Split conversion of the week was, inevitably, by Kaz Byrne, 1-5-7.

   First and second, BBC (Pat & Karen Byrne) and Duo (Tony Pearce & Rich Lester) both had 10-2 wins tonight and the BBC's lead remains at 15 points. Brother Grimm (Terry Emmony & Ian Smith) in third place could only score 2 points against the in form Turkeys (Harry Hargreaves & Martin Cook) and and are now 14 points adrift of Duo.
   Some excellent bowling tonight from many players - there were 10 series over 500, the best by a long way being by Kaz Byrne with 602 (which followed on from her 632 in the Friday league last week). Other high scorers were Terry Damm 558, Harry Hargreaves 545, Martin Cook 536 and Ian Smith 523. Also well done to Mary Grayson with 509 and Liz Lake who scored 505.
   There were only 3 games over 200, Paul Simmons (Hit & Miss) 220 which included 5 strikes in a row, and Kaz Byrne, 203 and 201. The overall standard continues to rise however, the league average rose by a quarter of a pin to 153.11
   A few good trick shots tonight as well: Ray Peverill (Logjammers) and Mary Grayson (Owls) both got 5-10 splits, but the split conversion of the week was by Pat Byrne with a 6-7-10.

    The clash of the top two teams, Duo (Tony Pearce and Rich Lester) and BBC (Pat and Karen Byrne) produced a decisive 10-2 win for BBC who take back the top spot by 3 points.
Third place team Brothers Grimm (Terry Emmony and Ian Smith) continue to close the gap with a 10-2 win over Hit & Miss (Lesley Reeday and Paul Simmons).
   Once again very few games over 200 this week; Terry Damm (TD) scored 207, Pat Byrne 204 and Martin Cook (Turkeys) 203.

    The lead changes again with Duo (Tony Pearce and Rich Lester) taking over from BBC (Pat and Karen Byrne) who had their 'bye' week this week. Duo are now 5 points in front of BBC and 26 points ahead of the new third place team, Brothers Grimm (Terry Emmony and Ian Smith).
   Only 4 games over 200 this week; David Sibley (LAPD) was best with 216, followed by Terry Emmony (Bros Grimm) 210, Neil Taylor (Pomerainians) with his first league game over 200 at 205, and Tony Pearce (Duo) with 201. Another first for Richard Springthorpe (Logjammers) who had a 'clean' game for the first time.
   High series scores were also in short supply - David Sibley was again the highest at 547, Terry Emmony scored 539, Tony Pearce 524 and Crunch Finch (1022) 501.
   Even so, the overall average for the league continues to improve, this week by 0.15 to 152.9.
   Best split conversion of the night was by Gordon Sprigg (Snoopy's Gang) with 1-2-10. Other good efforts were by Elaine Standley (3-9-10) and Ian Smith (5-7)

    BBC (Pat and Karen Byrne) are now 3 points in front of Duo (Tony Pearce and Rich Lester) after their 10-2 win over the Wilkos (Andy and Julie Wilkins). Duo could only manage an 8-4 win over Hit & Miss (Leslie Reeday and Paul Simmons)
   High scores last week were dominated by Terry Damm of TD with a scratch game of 265. This week his team mate Des Sands produced an excellent scratch game of 232, 273 with handicap added and a 570 series (693). Terry Damm also had a good series of 555 and TD now feature in all of the high score lists for the season.
   There were 4 other 200+ games; Martin Cook (Turkeys) 225, Terry Damm 209, David Sibley (LAPD) 200 and special congratulations to Richard Springthorpe (Logjammers) who improved his personal best by 36 to 200.
   Nine players beat the 500 level, the best of them, apart from TD, were David Sibley (LAPD) 554, Karen Byrne 533 and Pat Byrne 531.
   The overall average for the league improved by 0.25 to 152.7.

   The top two teams both lost ground to the chasers this week; BBC (Pat and Karen Byrne) lost 12-0 to fourth place Brothers Grimm (Ian Smith and Terry Emmony) and Duo (Tony Pearce and Rich Lester) were held 6-6 by last place Pomerainians. BBC now lead by only a point.
   Terry Damm scored a new high game for the league with an excellent 265, this is also the highest game with handicap added, 580. Other games over 200 were by Rich Lester (232), Harry Hargreaves (216), Ian Smith (208) and Pat Byrne (201)
   Terry Damm also scored the best series of the night, 563. Six others broke the 500 mark; Rich Lester (Duo) 555, Ian Smith (Bros. Grimm) 536, Harry Hargreaves (Turkeys) and Kevin Sharpe (1022) with 513, Pat Byrne 509 and Elaine Standley (LAPD) 508.
   No notable split conversions tonight but Karen Byrne had plenty of practice in the third game with four difficult ones in successive frames.

   Duo (Richard Lester and Tony Pearce) came to grief against 1022 (Crunch Finch and Kevin Sharpe), losing 10-2 while BBC scored maximum points and move back to the top of the table with a lead of 7 points.
   There were some good individual performances; only 3 games over 200 (David Sibley 224, Kevin Sharpe 214 and Brian Hipwell with a personal best 213) but 6 series over 500 including 3 over 550; David Sibley and Kevin Sharpe 561 and Pat Byrne 560. Others high scorers were Terry Damm (as usual) 521, John Barden 516 and Terry Emmony 511. Kevin's score was a career best.
   Two very good split conversions tonight, Keith MacFarlane (Two Macs) got a 1-2-10 but the best was by Richard Lester (Duo) with a 2-7-10.
   The overall league average improved from 152.2 to 152.4 tonight.

   Duo retake the top spot after playing their game in hand over BBC. They now lead by 3 points and by 23 from third place Snoopy's Gang.
   Only one game over 200 this week; Ian Smith (Brothers Grimm) with 240 which included 6 strikes in a row. With handicap added, this is the highest game in the league so far.
   Ian also lead the high series list with 582. Other players over 500 were John Barden 531, Terry Damm 507, Elaine Standley 504 and Tony Pearce 501.

   BBC played twice tonight accumulating 14 points and moving ahead by 9 points at the top of the table. The gap between Duo in second and Snoopys Gang in third widened to 19 points though, it is becoming a two horse race.
   There were some good individual performances tonight; Terry Damm lead the way with a 584 series including 2 games over 200. Pat Byrne played twice and both series were close to 600; 572 and 579. Other big scores were: Rich Lester 565, Karen Byrne 548, David Sibley 542, Martin Cook 523 and 527, Harry Hargreaves 514. Andy Wilkins broke the 500 barrier in consecutive weeks with 505.
   The split of the week prize was shared by Julie Wilkins and Terry Damm in the same match, 5-7.

   BBC continue at the top from Duo after both teams won 12-0 tonight. Snoopys Gang in third had a setback though, losing 10-2 to the Xes.
   Once again, the overall standard of bowling continues to improve. Although there were only four 200+ games tonight, (David Sibley (LAPD) being best with 226), eleven players broke the 500 mark and most players improved their averages.
   David Sibley was highest by some way at 571. Other high scorers were Pat Byrne (BBC) 558, Simon Mortlock (TD - in his first game in the Monday league) 539, Kevin Sharpe (1022), Rich Lester (Duo)and Terry Damm (TD) all with 527. Mary Grayson (The Owls) was highest scoring Lady with 520.
   Brian Hipwell (Xes) scored his first 200 game of the season tonight.
   Split conversion of the week was by Tony Pearce with a 5-6-10 split

   There were at least some games over 200 this week; Ian Smith was best with 211 followed by Rich Lester, 208. 8 players scored 500 or more: Rich Lester (Duo) 564, Martin Cook (Turkeys) 540, David Sibley (LAPD) 528, Terry Emmony (Bros Grimm) 527, Pat Byrne (BBC) 516, Ian Smith 511, Brian Grayson (Owls) 507 and Karen Byrne (BBC) 500.

   Even tighter at the top of the table this week; BBC are now only 1 point behind Duo. Snoopys Gang and Hit and Miss in third and fourth both scored 12 points this week to close the gap with the leading two teams.
   Another odd week for high scores with nobody scoring a 200 game. (Harry Hargreaves was highest with 196). However, 6 players broke the 500 series mark: Martin Cook 560 and Harry Hargreaves 503 (both Turkeys), Karen Byrne 521 and Pat Byrne 514 (both BBC), Kevin Sharpe 528 (1022), and Richard Lester 505 (Duo).
   Best split conversion of the night was by Harry Hargreaves, 3-7-10. Brian Hipwell converted a 7-9 split during practice.

   This was a position night, half way through the league. Second place BBC beat the leaders, Duo by 10-2 and the gap is now only 3 points. Snoopys Gang also won 10-2 to keep in touch with the leaders.
   More evidence that the overall standard of bowling continues to improve: 21 out of 30 bowlers increased their averages for the season and no fewer than 11 scored over 500 for the series.
   There were only 3 games over 200; Pat Byrne (BBC) was best with 223, Keith MacFarlane (Two Macs) scored 220 and Rich Lester (Duo) scored 206. Of the eleven 500+ series, Harry Hargreaves (Turkeys) was best with 566, closely followed by Pat Byrne with 561 and David Sibley (LAPD) 552. Other high scores were Karen Byrne 549, Elaine Standley with her best series for some time 537 and Gordon Spriggs (now a big fan of the lanes at Megabowl) 535.
   Well done to the Owls, the only team apart from BBC to both score over 500. Also to Richard Springthorpe who raised his high series score by 35 to 451 and Jenny Hipwell (Xes) who improved by 62 pins to 453.
   Split conversion of the week was by Jenny Hipwell who was successful with a 6-7 split.

   Duo extended their lead at the top of the table by 10 points after their 10-2 win over LAPD. BBC were beaten 12-0 by Snoopys Gang when Gordon Sprigg finally found a lane that works.
   After last weeks drought of good scores there was a flood this week. There were 7 games over 200, (Gordon got two of them), and 8 individual series over 500. The Brothers Grimm lead the way with a team series of 1,126 (1,294 with handicap - the best in the league so far.) They also scored the best high game with handicap of the season with 468.
   The best series of the night was by Terry Emmony, 566 with team mate Ian Smith next best, along with Terry Damm, on 560.Others over 500 were; Gordon Sprigg 556, Rich Lester 555, David Sibley 524, John Barden 523 and Karen Byrne 506.
   Well done to Brian Hipwell who scored his highest game ever, 193.
   Split conversion of the week was by Crunch Finch (1022) who succeeded with a 6-7 split. Congratulations also to Jenny Hipwell who converted a 5-10 split.

   As we approach half way in the league the top of the table is developing into a contest between Duo and BBC with only 1 point separating them but then a 21 point gap to Hit & Miss in third.
   After the Christmas break most players found it hard going: there were no 200+ games at all tonight and only 3 players scored over 500 series (Martin Cook (Turkeys) 529, Karen Byrne (BBC) 515, and Barry Norris (Pomerainians) 500.
   
   Successful split conversions this week included 5-7 by Rich Lester (Duo) and 5-10 by Terry Emmony (Brothers Grimm)

   All of the top teams had good wins and there is no change in the top 3; Duo from BBC by 2 points with TD third. Turkeys move from 6th to 4th.
   The Turkeys (Harry Hargreaves and Martin Cook) had an exceptional night. Martin didn't have a single open frame in any game and scored 227, 225 and 191 for a 643 series - the highest score this season. Harry also scored well with 522 and the team now leads the league high series table.
   Pat Byrne (BBC) also had a high scoring night: he had the best game, 239, plus 224 and 163 for a 626 series. Other bowlers to break the 500 mark were Tony Pearce (Duo) with his best score for years, 550, Kevin Sharpe (1022) and Richard Lester (Duo) both scored 525 and John Barden (Snoopys Gang) and Andy Wilkins (Wilkos) scored 510.
   Successful split conversion of the night was 2-7-10 by Ray Peverill (Logjammers)

   Duo maintain their 4 point advantage over BBC and TD (Terry Damm and Des Sands) are still equal second. Brothers Grimm move up 2 places to fourth.
   It was another good week for high series with 7 bowlers breaking the 500 level. Martin Cook was the best with 531. Others were: Terry Emmony 525, Terry Damm 523, Pat Byrne 513, Tony Pearce and Andy Wilkins 515 and Karen Byrne 500. The best game of the night was by Terry Emmony, 215.
   The Wilkos were on top form tonight, Andy scoring a 200 game in his series of 515 and Julie scoring 210, her first game over 200, including 5 strikes in a row. They improved their team high game by 34 pins to 376 and high series by 54 to 458.
   Keith MacFarlane also excelled himself when he converted a 4-7-10 split

   No change at the top of the table this week, Duo continue to lead but by a much smaller margin of 4 points from BBC who take over second spot from TD.
   There were some excellent individual performances this week; Pat Byrne (BBC) scored more than 200 in all three games to give a series total of 618, the highest in the league so far. Paul Standley (LAPD) scored two 200 games and a series total of 593. Terry Damm (527), Harry Hargreaves (525) and Karen Byrne (517) also exceeded the 500 level.
   Barry Norris (Pomeranians) scored the highest game with handicap this week with 244.
   The Byrnes' individual high scores meant that the BBC improved the league's team series score to 1,135 scratch and 1,249 handicap..

   Duo, Tony Pearce and Richard Lester, have opened up a 12 point lead with their 8-4 win over rivals BBC. With Snoopys Gang also slipping up against The Owls, TD improve from fourth to second.
   Again this week there were few 200+ games, Karen Byrne scoring the best with 218 but 6 players broke the 500 mark. Harry Hargreaves (Turkeys) was way ahead of everybody else with 572 while other high scorers were Terry Damm (TD) 537, Richard Lester (Duo) 533, Karen Byrne (BBC) 525, Martin Cook (Turkeys) 517 and Brian Grayson (Owls) 506, his first 500 this season.
   Two teams scored more than 1,000: Turkeys with 1,089 which is the second highest in the league so far, and Duo 1,016,

   Duo stay at the top of the table but failed to take full advantage of BBC's bye week, losing 4-8 to Two Macs. Snoopys Gang move into second place with a 10-2 win over LAPD.
   There was once again some consistently high bowling by many players and teams. Four teams scored over 1,000 for the scratch series (Brothers Grimm, Duo, Turkeys and TD) and most teams improved their game average.
   Although there were only 4 games over 200 (Richard Lester being the best with 234), no fewer than 9 players exceeded 500 for the series; Richard Lester was again the highest with 560, Keith MacFarlane was close behind with 548 and Terry Damm was third with 543. As further evidence of consistently higher quality play, well over half of the players improved their average game score.
   Keith MacFarlane's excellent series included a 230 game and was a lifetime best. Neil Taylor (Pomerainians) narrowly missed his first 200 game but scored a personal best 190. Well done to both bowlers!

   BBC's run of losses continues with a 2-10 defeat by the Wilkos but the Duo (Tony Pearce and Richard Lester) are going from strength to strength. They take over at the top of the table after their 12-0 win over Hit & Miss.
   High scorers this week were lead by Martin Cook (Turkeys) who scored a magnificent 614 (240, 187, 187) which sets a new high series score scratch and handicap for the league so far.
   Five players broke the 500 mark; Kevin Sharpe 553, Stu Cleland 549, Terry Damm 527 (Terry has scored higher than 500 in all 8 weeks of the league), Mary Grayson 526, and Richard Lester 521.
   Congratulations to Mary Grayson who scored a lifetime best game of 232 tonight. Also, well done to the Wilkos, Andy and Julie Wilkins, who improved their high series score by 68 and their average by 6 pins per game.

   There was a dramatic reversal in BBC's fortunes tonight as they slumped to a 12-0 defeat at the hands of Brothers Grimm. With Duo winning 10-2 the gap between first and second is cut to only 4 points.
   The high scoring list was again headed by a lady, this time however not by Karen Byrne but by Elaine Standley with a 213 game. In a fairly sparse night for high scores only 4 scores over 500 were recorded; Martin Cook lead the way with an excellent 571, including a 212 game. Others were Richard Lester 530, Terry Damm (as usual) 518 and Paul Standley 504.
