Skittle Scuttlers are the Summer Champions

Already assured of the title after last weeks big win over Mac Too, the Scuttlers finished nine points ahead of Mac Too, who took some revenge by winning 8-4 on position night against the leaders. The Assassins held on to third place by beating Duo 8-4 who drop down to fifth in the face of an excellent performance by Vipers. The Vipers both scored over 600 to easily take all the points from the Owls.

Seven bowlers improved their high series for this league but John Lyons and David Sibley had the best games by some way. John bowled 52 higher than previously to score 634 (680 with handicap), including a 234 (255) game and David was also over 600 with 602 (662) including a 227 (247) game. The Vipers go to the top of all the league high score lists with this performance.

Others with new high scores were: Steve Emmony +46 to 567 (651), John Bodicoat +64 to 475 (604), Lee Bowman +19 to 527 (629), Diane MacFarlane +10 to 489 (588) and Ash Phillips-Green +14 to 351 (531).

The Vipers converted some good splits during their good form: David hit a 4-7-10 and John got a 3-7-10 and they both were successful with 5-10s.

The league scratch average improved by 0.2 to 152.1.

Scuttlers make sure of the title

The Skittle Scuttlers won the league a week early by beating their nearest rival and the only other team anble to overtake them, Mac Too by 12-0 tonight. They are now 13 points clear of Mac Too, who remain in second place, with only position night to come next week.Last weeks third place Vipers fell back to fifth after losing to Brothers Grimm, the Assassins moving up to third in their place.

Malcolm Congreve continues to improve; he went 36 higher than the previous league high in scoring 689 (719 with handicap) includiing two games of 238. Steve Emmony was the only other bowler over 500 tonight with 521, a new season high.

Diane MacFarlane converted a 6-7 split.

The league scratch average remained at 151.9

Scuttlers and Mac Too neck and neck

Skittle Scuttlers and Mac Too both won tonight but Mac Too dropped a point to fall one point behind. The Vipoers move back to third place and make up some ground on the leaders with a 12-0 win over Complete Balls. Duo were the only fallers in the top group after losing to Mac Too and fall to fifth behind the Assassins.

Malcolm Congreve is back from holiday and took his normal place at the top of the high score lists with a 598 series (628 with handicap) including the best game of the night, 224 (234). Keith MacFarlane was next best with 572 and David Sibley improved his high series in this league by 29 pins to 569 (629)

Neil Taylor converted a 4-7-9 split, John Lyons was impressed with his 5-10 conversion and Tony Pearce was lucky with a 5-7.

The league scratch average fell again, by 0.8 to 152.0

Scuttlers falter

Leaders Skittle Scuttlers lost out to the Vipers 4-8 in a close and high scoring game tonight. Second place Mac Too took full advantage by taking all the points from The Assassins and are now level on points with the Scuttlers at the top of the table. In spite of their win the Vipers slip a place to fourth having been overtaken by Duo.

Top scorer tonight - it had to happen sometime - was Terry Emmony with 568 (649) including the best game of the night, 242 (269 - the best handicap game of the league so far). John Lyons was close behind with 565 (628) and Matt Titchard features in all the high score lists in his first game of this league.

Matt Tomblin (Assassins) converted a 6-7-10 split

The league scratch average fell again, by 0.6 to 152.8

Mac Too hang on to leaders

Last weeks leaders both won well tonight: Skittle Scuttlers took ten points from Complete Balls and Mac Too beat Hit & Miss by 11-1. Tha gap reduces to eight points now and Mac Too are 17 points clear of new third place, Vipers. Duo slip to fourth after drawing with the Assassins.

Keith MacFarlane and Mac Too had all the top scores tonight - Keith started with the best game of the night; 243 (264 with handicap) and ended with a league best series of 580 (643) after a poor third game. Lee Bowman improved his high game for this league by 28 to score his first game over 200, 213 (247) and also improved his best series by five to 508. Saira Walji had a new high game, +2 to 145 (205)

Scuttlers extend their lead

With an easy 12-0 win over Broithers Grimm, Skittle Scuttlers have extended their lead from four to nine points, Nearest challengers Mac Too could only manage seven points from their match with X-Factor and Duo and Vipers drew with each other to also fall further behind the Scuttlers. Third place Duo are now 23 points behind first place and Vipers 25.

Malcolm Congreve was top scorer again with 594 (624 with handicap) including games of 211 and 206. Des Sands and Will Bukiel were both over 200 in game three and they lead several of the individual and team high score lists this week.

New high series this week for Saira Walji (NFC) with 369 (549), Liz Lake 461 (569) and Des Sands 542 (617)

Mac Too close the gap

Leaders Skittle Scuttlers took all 12 points tonight after a walk over but Mac Too used their game in hand to good effect, getting 22 points out of their two matches. The gap between first and second is now only 4 points although third place Duo are a further thirteen behind.

Joint top scorers tonight with both Malcolm and Keith scoring 579. Mary Grayson beat them both with handicap however, her 546 scratch was 669 with handicap. Mary also had the third best scratch game of the night, 209 (250). With Brian also scoring well, the Owls have a rare week at the top of the team handicap high score lists.

Diane MacFarlane converted a 6-7 split and also a 5-9-7. John Bodicoat got a 5-10

The Scuttlers move ahead

Leaders Skittle Scuttlers were held to a draw by the Owls tonight but keep top spot as second place Mac Too's game was postponed. New second place Duo rise to within seven points of the Scuttlers after taking all 12 points fdrom NFC. Mac Too are in third with one game in hand and the Assassins are fourth with two games in hand and 15 points behind the leaders.

Matt Tomblin's good form continues with another 600+ series tonight: 613 (655 with handicap) including the best game of the night - 220 (234).

David Sibley successfully dealt with a 4-7-10 split.

The Scuttlers move ahead

By coincidence first played second again this week with Skittle Scuttlers beating Duo by 8-4. Mac Too move back up to second place above Duo after their 12-0 win over NFC and now stand eight poiints behind the Scuttlers. The Vipers are also closing the gap with the leaders after taking eight points from the Owls.

Matt Tomblin (the Assassins) was the star this week with a 641 scratch series (716 with handicap) with games of 222, 219 and 200. With team mate Alex Taylor also scoring over 500, the Assassins now head all of the team high scores lists for the league.

The Scuttlers move ahead

First played second tonight and Skittle Scuttlers beat Mac Too 9-3 to open up a bigger gap at the top of the table. Mac Too slip to third, overtaken by Duo. The gap from first to second is now nine points with another three to third.

No really high scores tonight; Malcolm was top scorer with 548 (581 with handicap) and he also had the best scratch game, 220 (231). Tony Pearce had his best series for some time with 506 (611 - the best this week) and Will Bukiel had the best handicap game, 239.

Keith MacFarlane did all the high scoring this week: a 569 scratch series including two clean games (635 with handicap) and a 223 high game (245)
